03/08/12 Dent Blanche 4357m

Dent Blanche is the eleventh highest of the major 4000m Alpine Peaks. It is a beautiful mountain that requires a bit of commitment to climb it due to the physical effort involved. Yesterday, we made the 1700m climb to the Dent Blanche Hut. This is an excellent traditional mountain hut and well worth the effort involved in walking there. Today, we climbed the South Ridge of Dent Blanche. It has snowed both on the night of the 1st and 2nd August creating some verglas and thin snow cover on the rock making things a liitle more tricky.
