For the last few days I have been in the Alps skiing on and off piste and doing some ski touring.
The conditions for off piste skiing at Grand Montet have been reasonably good during this period with some fresh snow on a couple of occassions. We ski toured one of the days towards the Col Du Tour Noir from an early lift. We did not go right to the top due to high freezing levels and rapidly deteriorating snow conditions.
Yesterday we skiied the Col Du Beugeant in the Aiguille Rouge from the Index lift finishing at Le Buet. This gave an excellent day out. A rope is useful for the initial descent from the col.
Over the next three days we are aiming to tour from Chamonix to Champex with a late start this afternoon to allow the weather to clear.
