I was based up in Glencoe over the weekend with Rachel and Paul from the Glasgow Hill Walking and Mountaineering Club.
On the Saturday we climbed Curved Ridge on Buachaille Etive Mor with the weather holding fair until near Crowberry Tower after which a steady drizzle set in. It’s worth noting that the approach path to Curved Ridge is quite washed out in places after the recent deluges.
With a better forecast for Sunday we headed up to Ben Nevis to climb Tower Ridge. Despite views being limited by the fact we were mostly in cloud, Tower Ridge was going well until part way up the Great Tower; at this point one of the team had a small slip, but unfortunately twisted their knee badly enough to make it painful to support weight. After checking the injury and discussing the situation with the Mountain Rescue Team we continued across Tower Gap and up the ridge to be met by members of the the MRT just below the summit. Well done to both Paul and Rachel for a sterling effort in managing to keep moving up the ridge after the injury and a big thanks to Lochaber MRT for their professionalim and assistance in getting us off the hill so efficiently.
