Beinn a Chrulaiste

Sometimes crawling is the only way to move forward in deep snow in Scotland!

The lads and I were back out in Glencoe today to continue our winter skills and avalanche awareness course.

Masses of new snow had fallen overnight and therefore we opted for a slightly lower summit, the Corbett Beinn a Chrulaiste. We had a very rewarding and physical day which included looking at skills such as pacing, contour interpretation, walking on bearings and searching for multiple burials using transceivers.

Huge amounts of snow continued to fall during the day. the Glencoe road was closed on a number of occasions. Skis or snowshoes are now becoming a very good option for those visiting Glencoe and the surrounding areas.
