Big day in Glen Carron

Ivor and I were out walking in the hills on the south side of Glen Carron yesterday. We climbed Sgurr nan Ceannaichean via it’s north ridge before following the main ridge around to Moruisg. After dropping down to Glenuaig Lodge using the good stalker’s path we ascended Maoile Lunndaidh. From the summit we had good grassy walking around via Creag Toll a’Choin to Carn nan Fiaclan. A steep descent down the east ridge took us down to An Crom-allt and some rough walking to gain the track towards Craig. Once past the western end of Sgurr nan Ceannaichean some trackless walking through the bealach took us back to our starting point just west of Loch Sgamhain. A big day with lots of ascent in some remote and, at times, pathless country.

The hills were very dry, which made the walking easier and we had strong sunshine for much of the day with cloud building; some rain later in the day and thunderstorms in the distance.
