With a forecast of rain for the West and very strong south-westerly winds for most of Scotland John, me and a Falkirk Community Trust climbing team of B, Helen and Iona decided on heading for the Aberdeen sea-cliffs today.

We had a good day climbing granite in the sunshine and were sheltered from the worst of the winds. Initially we climbed at Clashrodney (Bareside Point) climbing in various combinations The Hairline, Stilletto and Gorgon on The Pink Slab and Quick Corner, Robb’s Revenge and Capitol Wall on the Central Buttress.

In the afternoon we moved to Cairnrobin Point and climbed Schoolboy Alcoholic, Glaswegian Snotter and Cloak and Iona had a look at the hard Johnnie’s Dangler on a top rope.
All the climbs are on clean, good, generally very solid granite and unaffected by nesting birds.
