On Wednesday, in the company of the Winter Mountain Leader training course, I visited the Cairngorms. We snow holed above Glen Feshie. During the night the winds increased massively and there was huge amounts of snow being transported. We were having to dig out our snow hole doors every 45 mins so opted to escape to the valley at 1am arriving at the minibus at 2am.
We arrived back in Glencoe at 4am. Following a couple of hours sleep we had a great day out on the peaks near the Devils staircase. Again, we witnessed massive snow transportation. This will be adding to the avalanche hazard.
