Lowland Leader Award

The last three days I’ve been working on a Lowland Leader Award Training Course for Falkirk Community Trust with John. After meeting and covering some lectures on Friday evening in Falkirk we were based out of the Muiravonside Country Park for Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we walked in the Muiravonside/Lochcote Reservoir area and on Sunday we walked in the South Queensferry/Dalmeny Park area, whilst covering the course syllabus.

The Lowland Leader Award is a new qualification this year. It’s aimed at those leading walking groups in the lowland environment. It covers such things as equipment, navigation, leadership, group management, access legislation, hazards and emergency procedures. The Award is a Mountain Training qualification and is a UK and Ireland award.

Thanks to Jo, Lana, Nicky and Susannah for their enthusiasm throughout, which made the course a pleasure to work on.
