Paul and I are just back from an overnighter in central Scotland taking in a Munro and staying in an excellent bothy.
We walked in yesterday morning with snow down to road level (100m), dumped our overnight gear at the bothy, had lunch and headed up the hill. It snowed pretty much all day with very light winds and deposited circa 20cm+ of fresh snow on all aspects above 400m. Visibility was very poor at height and we spent a good bit of the day in the “white room”. We had a very pleasant evening by the fire in the bothy before grabbing some sleep and heading out early this morning. There’d been some thawing of the snow on the way out and the track was clear below about 350m.
