Out with Adventure Edinburgh in the Pentlands today. The programmed navigation day was shelved to make the most of the conditions and the bulk of the day was spent sliding about learning or revising ice axe arrests. The group enjoyed themselves immensely and hopefully learnt some stuff as well.
Snow cover in the Pentlands is now very patchy, the snow pack was saturated and should refreeze with the predicted overnight frosts. The turf was still suprisingly firm even low down. Above freezing all day, but a fresh north-west wind making it feel quite cold. Clear skys with some high/patchy clouds.
