Ski Touring in the Alps

At the moment I am out ski touring in the Alps. The weather and conditions are currently difficult but by changing our plan (a week in the Vanoise), Tina, Scott and I have just had a good four days.

On Monday we climbed the Petit Croisse Baulet from Combloux. The lift system was closed so we had to climb from the bottom. This did mean however that we had the peak to ourselves except from one other ski tourer.

We travelled to the Gemmipass in the Oberland West on Tuesday morning and climbed the Mittgipfel from the first lift before overnighting at the Lammeren Hutte. The weather overnight was poor so we opted for a later start before climbing the Steghorn and having an excellent descent on fresh snow. This area is currently in good condition.

Today we visited the Vallee Blanche above Chamonix. The views were great but the snow was poor.
