Out climbing on the Mess of Pottage area in Coire an t-Sneachda on Thursday. We experienced very similar conditions to Euan (see report below) and chose not to top out, but to abseil back in to the coire. There was a good base layer of hard snow, but fresh snow was falling and being transported on a strengthening south-west wind throughout the afternoon and large accumulations of wind slab were developing on lee slopes and sheltered areas.
Friday we stayed low down in Coire na Ciste. Snow in the morning on a strengthening west/south-west wind turned to rain, which looked to be up to summit level by mid-afternoon.
